Snowdon Ice Climbing Accident

While climbing free without belays can be a luring adventure, this video about the Snowdon ice climbing accident shows how quickly it can turn into a - almost fatal - nightmare.

The whole thing happened on Mount Snowdon (1085 m or 3560 ft) the highest mountain in Wales, UK, also know as the busiest mountain in Britain.

The climber, Mark Roberts, got hit by pieces of falling ice, lost his grip and plunged down about 30 m (100 ft). Roberts was lucky and got away with minor injuries. He was airlifted by the by the Mountain Rescue Team. It is said that his helmet saved his life.
